We believe that God still speaks to His people today. God is relational and wants to communicate with us through His word, through our experiences, through His whispers and through each other.
We would love to hear how God has spoken to you. What was the whisper? How did you respond? How did your walk with Christ grow because of that whisper?

I remember one time when I heard a distinct voice within me say, “Don’t be afraid of what is going to happen.” Sometime later, my dad died and I got up in the night to pray and I was so afraid. I didn’t know how I was going to handle my mom. And then I remembered what God had said earlier to not be afraid and all my fears melted away as I realized that if God said not to worry, then he had everything covered. I felt great peace after that.
ReplyDeleteSeveral times he has had me ask something out loud so he can answer me. One time I was going to Marion to the Mission store and when I got over there discovered I had forgotten the stuff I planned to take. I prayed about what I should do and ended up going there anyhow. I started to go across the room to the books and stopped short and said out loud, “Why am I here?” As soon as I said that, my eyes fell upon a book about our U.S. Capital which had the answers to a question I had asked God earlier about whether the U.S. Capital building had gods and goddesses painted on its dome. Inside were pictures of it.
The first time I remember hearing God’s whisper was about 7 or 8 years ago. I was on my way into the store to do my weekly shopping. Since it is not my favorite job to do, my mind was set on getting it done and over with. Out of the corner of my eye I glimpsed an older woman putting things in the back seat of her car. I thought (or heard a whisper), “you should help her”. Well, I walked on past her toward the store, got to get it done and get home you know. After I had taken a few more steps, I know I heard quite clearly…”TURN AROUND AND HELP THAT WOMAN”. Well that startled me and I turned around. Then I saw the woman more clearly. Her arm was in a sling. She was struggling with her bags and she had a 24-ct pkg of bottled water still in her cart. So I rushed over to her and asked if I could help. It took less than 5 minutes. She was blessed, but moreover I was blessed because I learned a very valuable lesson. If you are sure it is Him, do what He tells you to do the first time. Because He gets more insistent if He has to repeat himself.
ReplyDeleteI'm learning to really listen to the Holy Spirit's prompting! Angel Food Ministries has helped me to open my eyes tp see and my ears to hear what God is really saying and doing. He always provided for families in need and so many of the volunteers at AFM were able to see God working through us.
ReplyDeleteOne time I felt like I needed to stop and talk to an elderly man who was sitting on his front porch. I won't forget what that felt like to NOT DO God's will. A friend told me that was a missed opportunity, I don't want to experience that again! I know how that has impacted me to Make a Difference Where I can.
I SEE God EVERY DAY in situations all around me! I want to be used by God!
